As Dashami afternoon arrives, the heavy sorrow of the Mother's impending departure is miraculously transformed into a triumphant, radiant explosion of crimson and gold.
Before the deity is carried toward the river ghats, women gather in traditional red-and-white sarees for Baron and Sindoor Khela:
- Devi Baron: Offering sweets (Sandesh), betel leaves (Paan), and wiping away imaginary tears from the goddess's cheeks as a daughter leaving for her husband's home.
- Sindoor Daan: Applying pure red vermilion to the Mother's forehead, hair parting, and feet.
- The Sisterhood Dance: Smearing vermilion on each other's cheeks and foreheads, wishing everyone prosperity, health, and lifelong sisterhood.
"In that scarlet glow, tears turn into smiles. It is both a goodbye and a promise that the Mother never truly leaves us."
